Tearful Casey DeSantis says she wasn't sure if she would be alive at her children's future graduatio

Casey DeSantis got emotional as she reflected on the moment she was diagnosed with breast cancer and attributed her husband Ron for getting her through it.

The Florida governor and his wife gave a joint interview to Fox News’ Harris Faulkner on Tuesday where Casey opened up about wondering whether she’d be around to see her kids’ milestones.

‘The day that I ultimately found out it was Ron who was the one that told me,’ she said.

In October 2021, Casey had announced she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had six treatments of chemotherapy and was declared cancer-free in March 2022.

'I didn't know if I was gonna see my kids graduate from kindergarten, let alone going off into high school or watching them walk down the aisle. I had him there every step of the way,' she said

‘I didn’t know if I was gonna see my kids graduate from kindergarten, let alone going off into high school or watching them walk down the aisle. I had him there every step of the way,’ she said as her voice cracked with tears.

Casey claimed her husband treated her cancer diagnosis the same way he approached the Covid-19 pandemic as governor: ‘What he did for me in my cancer battle is what he did for the people of this state during COVID, because he went through and he analyzed the data. Just like he fought for me, he fought for the people of this state.’

The first lady of Florida fawned over her ‘funny’ and ‘smart’ presidential candidate husband throughout the interview.

‘I knew very quickly after meeting him that he was the one. You can tell he is funny, he is a great guy to be around, he is very, very smart. He has a good moral compass,’ she said.

At one point DeSantis was asked what kind of first lady she would be.

‘One who looks at the role with a lot of humility,’ she said.

‘It isn’t about me, it’s about being in a position to do good on behalf of the people in this state and hopefully this country.’

It’s hard to miss Casey DeSantis on the campaign trail with her husband. Where Ron has been painted as awkward and aloof, Casey has been the one swoop in and charm the public.

Former President Trump still holds a sizeable lead over DeSantis going into Wednesday’s GOP presidential debate.

In Iowa, the first state in the nation to caucus, Trump holds a 23-point lead over the Florida governor, according to DailyMail.com’s latest polling.

Trump will not take part in Wednesday’s debate, letting the other candidates hash it out with each other while he gives an interview to Tucker Carlson.
